About Me

Research, learn, code, hack, build, fail, rinse, repeat … succeed!

I’m a researcher who’s spent 8+ years teaching machines to understand brains, sounds, and signals using deep learning. I work with PyTorch (since 2018), TensorFlow (not since 2018), LLMs, and pretty much anything that runs on a GPU. I’ve published in peer-reviewed journals and conferences, but honestly what I enjoy most is sharing what I learn, whether that’s mentoring students, running hands-on workshops, or making YouTube videos that explain AI without the jargon, (who am I kidding) most of the time with a lot of jargon, code, and equations.

What I´m working on now:

Trying to keep my YouTube channel alive.

Teaching Deep learning at Tecnologico de Monterrey for Undergrads and Postgraduate students.

Supervising PhD students (really cool work).

Co-founding the Artificial Intelligence and Robotics Lab (AiRLab), for full research projects at my Uni.

Doing research using Deep Learning on brain signals and imaging with (potential) applications to neuroscience, cybersecuritiy, and robotics.

Trying to keep up with LLM papers (no kidding here).

Playing hockey (I have been playing for 3 years now, I’m still a very bad player, but 3 years ago I could not tie my laces, never skated before) .

Thinking I should get back to photography.
